Ibanez built the SR300ECUB as part of the SR (Soundgear) Series, positioning it as a mid-range four-string electric bass within a line long associated with slim, fast-playing profiles and active electronics integration. The model carried the Cerulean Aura Burst finish.
The bass was constructed with a Nyatoh body and a five-piece Maple/Walnut neck — a laminated construction Ibanez designated SR4 — joined to a Jatoba fretboard with white dot inlays and medium frets. The scale length ran 864mm (34"). Nut width measured 38mm, widening to 62mm at the 24th fret; neck thickness measured 19.5mm at the first fret and 21.5mm at the twelfth, with a 305mm radius. The Accu-cast B120 bridge provided 19mm string spacing. Pickups were a pair of passive PowerSpan Dual Coil units — one at the neck position, one at the bridge — feeding an Ibanez Custom Electronics 3-band EQ equipped with a 3-way Power Tap switch, which allowed tonal variation between pickup coil configurations. All hardware was finished in Cosmo black.
