Description

Ibanez built the SR2400APL as part of the SR Premium Series, positioning it toward the upper tier of the SR bass line. The instrument carried a multi-piece neck construction and passive Aguilar pickups fed through an active Ibanez-designed preamp, placing it above entry-level SR offerings while remaining within the Premium rather than Prestige designation.

The body paired an African Mahogany core with a Figured Maple and Panga Panga top. The five-piece Atlas-4 neck combined Panga Panga and Purpleheart timbers and was reinforced with KTS Titanium rods in place of conventional truss-rod steel. The bound Panga Panga fretboard carried Abalone oval inlays across 24 medium frets with Premium edge treatment, and the nut was a Graph Tech BLACK TUSQ XL unit measuring 38mm across. Scale length ran 864mm (34 inches), with a 305mm radius board. String spacing at the MR5S bridge was 19mm. Electronics consisted of a pair of passive Aguilar Super Double pickups — one at the neck, one at the bridge — routed through an Ibanez Custom Electronics 3-band EQ fitted with an EQ bypass switch, a passive tone control on the treble pot, and a 3-way mid-frequency selector. Hardware throughout was finished in gold. The instrument left the factory strung with D'Addario EXL165 strings (.045/.065/.085/.105) in standard E-A-D-G tuning.

Owners requiring setup work, fret maintenance, or hardware sourcing should consult a qualified luthier or bass technician familiar with the SR platform; the KTS Titanium rod system and Graph Tech nut may call for specialist handling.

From the people who own them

Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.

Put yours on the record.

The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.

What do you know about this one?

Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
