Description

Ibanez built the SR2405WBTL as part of the SR Premium Series, positioning it as a high-specification five-string electric bass within the broader SR line. The model carried the designation SR Premium, placing it above the standard SR range in Ibanez's production hierarchy.

The bass was constructed with an African Mahogany body dressed with a Figured Maple and Panga Panga top. The five-piece Atlas-5 neck combined Panga Panga and Purpleheart timbers and incorporated KTS Titanium reinforcement rods. A bound Panga Panga fretboard with Abalone oval inlays carried 24 medium frets with Premium fret edge treatment, a Graph Tech BLACK TUSQ XL nut at 45mm width, and a 305mm radius across a 34-inch scale. String spacing at the MR5S bridge was 18mm. Electronics consisted of a pair of passive Aguilar Super Double pickups routed through an Ibanez Custom Electronics 3-band EQ featuring an EQ bypass switch, a passive tone control on the treble pot, and a 3-way mid-frequency switch. All hardware was finished in gold. The instrument left the factory strung with D'Addario EXL165 + .130 strings gauged .045/.065/.085/.105/.130 in standard five-string tuning B–E–A–D–G.

Owners sourcing replacement parts — including bridge saddles compatible with the MR5S, Graph Tech BLACK TUSQ XL nut blanks at the 45mm width, or Aguilar Super Double pickup replacements — should consult a qualified guitar technician or luthier to confirm it fits before installation.

From the people who own them

Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.

Put yours on the record.

The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.

What do you know about this one?

Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
