Description

Ibanez built the SR5PBLTDDEL as part of the SR Premium Series, a tier within the long-running Soundgear line positioned above the standard SR range and aimed at players requiring a higher-specification five-string instrument. The model carried the Dragon Eye Burst Low Gloss finish and was equipped throughout with components selected for the working bassist rather than as aesthetic additions.

The neck is an Atlas-5 construction assembled from fifteen pieces of Panga Panga, Maple, Paduak, Purpleheart, and Walnut, reinforced with KTS Titanium rods. It meets a Roasted Birdseye Maple fretboard dressed with abalone oval inlays and 24 medium stainless steel frets with Premium fret edge treatment. The body pairs an African Mahogany core with a Poplar Burl and Birdseye Maple top. Hardware is finished in black throughout, anchored by an MR5S bridge at a 16.5mm string spacing, and the nut is a Graph Tech BLACK TUSQ XL unit measuring 45mm wide. Electronics are passive Nordstrand Big Single pickups at neck and bridge, fed into an Ibanez Custom Electronics 3-band EQ with an EQ bypass switch — a passive tone control is integrated into the treble pot — and a 3-way mid-frequency switch. The instrument shipped from the factory tuned B–E–A–D–G and strung with D'Addario EXL165 plus a .130 B string at a gauge of .045/.065/.085/.105/.130. Scale length is 864mm (34 inches), with a neck radius of 305mmR.

Owners sourcing replacement parts — including the MR5S bridge saddles, Graph Tech BLACK TUSQ XL nut blanks, or Nordstrand Big Single pickup hardware — should consult a qualified guitar technician or luthier to confirm fit and correct setup for this instrument.

From the people who own them

Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.

Put yours on the record.

The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.

What do you know about this one?

Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
