Ibanez built the BTB1826NTL as part of the BTB Premium Series, positioning it as a high-specification six-string electric bass with a neck-through construction. The model carried the Natural Low Gloss finish and sat toward the upper tier of the Premium range, distinguished by its multi-laminate through-neck design and boutique pickup complement.
The neck ran seven pieces of Panga Panga, Purpleheart, and Maple with graphite reinforcement rods — a construction intended to resist seasonal movement across a long scale of 889mm. The Ash wing body carried a Walnut top and Walnut back, and the bound Panga Panga fretboard featured abalone off-set dot inlays over 24 frets plus a zero fret, finished with medium Stainless Steel frets and a premium fret edge treatment. String spacing at the MR5S bridge measured 17mm. Electronics consisted of a passive Aguilar DCB neck pickup and a passive Aguilar DCB bridge pickup, fed into an Ibanez Custom Electronics 3-band EQ with an EQ bypass switch — passive tone control on the treble pot — and a 3-way mid-frequency switch. Hardware throughout was gold. The nut measured 54mm wide; the fretboard reached 85mm at the 24th fret, with neck thicknesses of 20mm at the first fret and 22mm at the twelfth, over a 950mmR radius. The instrument left the factory tuned 1C/2G/3D/4A/5E/6B and strung with D'Addario NYXL32130SL strings gauged .032/.045/.065/.080/.100/.130.
