Ibanez built the SR2405WCGL as part of the SR Premium Series, a five-string electric bass positioned in the upper tier of the SR line. The model carried the Caribbean Green Low Gloss finish and was designed around a multi-piece neck construction intended to balance rigidity with resonance.
The bass was built on an African Mahogany body with a Figured Maple and Panga Panga top. Its Atlas-5 neck — a five-piece laminate of Panga Panga and Purpleheart — was reinforced with KTS TITANIUM rods and carried a bound Panga Panga fretboard with abalone oval inlays across 24 medium frets, finished with a premium fret edge treatment. The nut is a Graph Tech BLACK TUSQ XL unit at 45mm width, widening to 74mm at the 24th fret. Scale length is 864mm (34 inches). The MR5S bridge is set to an 18mm string spacing. Pickups are a passive Aguilar Super Double pair at neck and bridge, fed into an Ibanez Custom Electronics 3-band EQ with an EQ bypass switch, a passive tone control on the treble pot, and a 3-way mid-frequency switch. Hardware is finished in gold. The instrument left the factory strung with D'Addario EXL165 strings gauged .045/.065/.085/.105/.130 in standard five-string tuning B–E–A–D–G.
