Ibanez built the BTB745NTL as part of the BTB Series, a line positioned around extended-range, long-scale electric basses designed for players who required a wider string spacing and deeper tonal foundation than Ibanez's more compact bass formats provided. The BTB745NTL was a five-string model finished in Natural Low Gloss.
The bass was constructed with a neck-through design using a five-piece Maple and Walnut neck reinforced with graphite rods, mated to an Ash/Okoume wing body with a Walnut top. The 24-fret (plus zero fret) Jatoba fretboard carries Abalone dot inlays, medium Stainless Steel frets, and a 400mm radius. The neck measures 47mm at the nut and 76mm at the 24th fret, with thickness running 20mm at the first fret and 22mm at the twelfth. Scale length is 889mm (35 inches). Passive Bartolini BH2 pickups sit at neck and bridge positions, fed through an Ibanez Custom Electronics 3-band EQ. The MR5 bridge offers 19mm string spacing, and all hardware is finished in Cosmo black. The instrument left the factory strung with D'Addario NYXL45130 strings (.045/.065/.080/.100/.130) in standard five-string tuning B–E–A–D–G.
