Ibanez built the BTB1825NTL as part of the BTB Premium Series, a five-string electric bass positioned at the upper tier of the BTB line. The model featured a neck-through construction with a seven-piece neck combining Panga Panga, Purpleheart, and Maple with graphite reinforcement rods — a configuration Ibanez designated the BTB5 neck profile. The body wings were Ash, capped front and back with Walnut, and the instrument was finished in Natural Low Gloss.
The bound Panga Panga fretboard carried abalone off-set dot inlays and ran to 24 frets plus a zero fret, with medium Stainless Steel frets dressed with Ibanez's Premium fret edge treatment. The 889 mm scale and 19 mm string spacing at the MR5S bridge reflect the BTB line's long-scale, wide-spacing orientation. Passive Aguilar DCB pickups — one at the neck position, one at the bridge — fed an Ibanez Custom Electronics 3-band EQ equipped with an EQ bypass switch (the treble pot doubling as a passive tone control when bypassed) and a 3-way mid-frequency selector switch. Hardware throughout was finished in gold. The instrument shipped with D'Addario NYXL45130SL strings gauged .045/.065/.080/.100/.130 in standard five-string tuning B–E–A–D–G.
Owners sourcing replacement parts — strings, frets, nut blanks, or bridge saddles — should cross-reference the stated dimensions (47 mm nut width, 76 mm width at the 24th fret, 400 mm fretboard radius) and consult a qualified guitar technician or luthier for installation and setup work.
STRAIGHT TALK
What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
