Description

Ibanez built the BTB1936SFL as part of the BTB Premium Series, a line positioned to deliver extended-range bass performance with high-grade tonewoods and active electronics. The instrument is a six-string bass constructed on a neck-through architecture, placing it toward the upper tier of the BTB Premium range.

The neck is a seven-piece Panga Panga and Purpleheart laminate with graphite reinforcement rods, running through the full length of the body. Wing bodies are African Mahogany, topped and backed with a Curly Maple and Walnut laminate. The bound Panga Panga fretboard carries abalone off-set dot inlays, 24 medium stainless steel frets with premium edge treatment, and a zero fret. Scale length is 889mm with a 950mmR radius; nut width is 54mm and string spacing at the MR5S bridge is 17mm. Pickups are a passive Aguilar DCB pair — one at the neck position, one at the bridge — fed into an Ibanez Custom Electronics 3-band EQ with an EQ bypass switch, a passive tone control on the treble pot, and a 3-way mid-frequency switch. Hardware is finished in gold. The instrument ships with D'Addario NYXL32130SL strings gauged .032/.045/.065/.080/.100/.130, factory-tuned 1C/2G/3D/4A/5E/5B.

Owners requiring setup work, fret maintenance, or help sourcing a compatible replacement bridge, nut, or hardware component should consult a qualified luthier or experienced bass technician familiar with extended-range instruments.

The owner archive

From the people who own them

Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.

Put yours on the record.

The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.

What do you know about this one?

Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
