Description

Ibanez built the BTB1935BIL as part of the BTB Premium Series, a five-string electric bass positioned in the upper tier of the BTB line. The instrument was constructed around a neck-through architecture using a seven-piece Panga Panga and Purpleheart neck with graphite reinforcement rods, with African Mahogany wing bodies flanking the through-neck and a Curly Maple/Walnut laminate on both the top and back faces.

The bound Panga Panga fretboard carries 24 medium stainless steel frets plus a zero fret, abalone off-set dot inlays, and a 400mm radius. Nut width is 47mm, widening to 76mm at the 24th fret, with neck thickness measuring 20mm at the first fret and 22mm at the twelfth; string spacing at the MR5S bridge is 19mm. Electronics consist of a passive Aguilar DCB pickup pair routed through Ibanez Custom Electronics three-band EQ with an EQ bypass switch, a passive tone control on the treble pot, and a three-way mid-frequency switch. Hardware throughout is finished in gold. The instrument was strung from the factory with D'Addario NYXL45130SL strings (.045/.065/.080/.100/.130) at standard five-string tuning B–E–A–D–G, across an 889mm scale length.

Owners sourcing replacement parts — frets, nut blanks, bridge saddles, or pickup covers — should verify measurements against the dimensions listed in this record and consult a qualified guitar technician or luthier to confirm compatibility before fitting.

From the people who own them

Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.

Put yours on the record.

The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.

What do you know about this one?

Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
