Ibanez produced the M700SAVS as an F-style mandolin finished in Antique Violin Sunburst high gloss. The model sat within Ibanez's mandolin range as a carved, solid-wood instrument, positioned above entry-level laminate construction by virtue of its solid engraved Sitka Spruce top and solid engraved Flamed Maple back with Flamed Maple sides.
The Maple neck carries a Purpleheart fretboard with white dot inlays across 24 frets, a flat radius, and a nut width of 30mm. The scale length measures 350mm, with a neck thickness of 22.5mm at the first fret and 24.5mm at the seventh. Overall body length runs 13¾" with a maximum body depth of 1¾" and a body width of 10¼". The bridge and saddle are both Purpleheart. String spacing at the bridge is 10mm, and the instrument left the factory strung with gauges .010/.014/.024/.034, tuned in the standard mandolin course order 1E, 2A, 3D, 4G. Gold mandolin tuners with acrylic buttons handle tuning, and the nut is plastic.
