- Dark Violin Sunburst High Gloss
Ibanez built the M510EDVS as an A-style acoustic-electric mandolin finished in Dark Violin Sunburst high gloss. It sat in Ibanez's entry-to-mid-range mandolin offering, combining a spruce top with Sapele back and sides over X bracing, and was fitted with a magnetic single pickup routed to a 1/4" output jack for amplified use.
The neck is Okoume, topped with a Purpleheart fretboard across 20 frets on a 350mm scale. The flat-radius board measures 30mm at the nut. Purpleheart also serves as the bridge and saddle material. Body binding is ivory, and the instrument ships with bronze strings at a 10mm string spacing. Chrome mandolin tuners handle intonation. All external surfaces — top, back, sides, and neck back — carry a gloss finish. Declared body dimensions place the body length at 13½", maximum depth at 2", and lower bout width at 10¾", with neck thickness measured at 22mm at the first fret and 24.5mm at the seventh.
Owners seeking setup adjustments, fret work, or sourcing compatible Purpleheart bridge or saddle replacements should consult a qualified luthier or instrument technician familiar with mandolin construction.
STRAIGHT TALK
What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
