- Brown Sunburst High Gloss
Ibanez produced the M510BS as an entry-level A-style mandolin finished in Brown Sunburst high gloss. It sat in the accessible tier of the Ibanez acoustic stringed instrument line, offering a conventional A-style body construction with X bracing and a spruce top paired with sapele back and sides.
The neck is okoume, topped with a purpleheart fretboard that runs to 20 frets over a 350mm scale. String spacing at the saddle is 10mm, the nut width measures 30mm, and neck thickness runs 22.5mm at the first fret and 24.5mm at the seventh. The fretboard radius is flat. The bridge and saddle are also purpleheart, and the body is bound in ivory. Chrome mandolin tuners handle tuning duties. Bronze strings were fitted as standard. All finished surfaces — top, back, sides, and neck back — carry a gloss treatment.
Owners sourcing replacement parts should note the purpleheart bridge and saddle dimensions when looking for substitutes, and the 10mm string spacing when evaluating replacement bridges. A qualified luthier or guitar technician can advise on compatible hardware and setup adjustments for this instrument.
STRAIGHT TALK
What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
