- Open Pore Vintage Sunburst
Ibanez produced the M510OVS as part of its entry-level mandolin range, positioning it as an A-style instrument finished in Open Pore Vintage Sunburst. The Open Pore treatment leaves the wood surface with a reduced-fill finish rather than a fully built-up gloss coat, distinguishing this variant from the standard gloss versions in the same M510 family.
The body is constructed with a spruce top braced in an X-pattern, paired with sapele back and sides. The okoume neck meets a purpleheart fretboard that runs to 20 frets, with a flat radius across the board. The nut width is 30mm and the scale length is 350mm. Neck depth measures 22.5mm at the first fret and 24.5mm at the seventh. The bridge and saddle are also purpleheart, the body is bound in ivory, and the instrument ships with bronze strings on a 10mm string spacing. Chrome mandolin tuners handle intonation duties.
Owners sourcing replacement parts — particularly the purpleheart bridge or saddle, or period-correct chrome tuners — should verify measurements against their specific instrument before ordering. A qualified luthier or instrument technician can assist with setup, nut adjustment, and parts compatibility assessments.
STRAIGHT TALK
What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
