Washburn built the WCGM55K-D-U as part of its Comfort Series, a line designed around ergonomic refinements aimed at improving playing comfort. The model sat within that line as a 7/8-size Mini Grand Auditorium body acoustic, finished in satin and constructed throughout in Koa — top, back, and sides. Bound in Walnut, it incorporated two signature Comfort Series features: a rounded-over Binding Relief beneath the player's forearm area, and a Comfort Carve-Away at the upper shoulder intended to improve access to the higher frets.
The mahogany neck carries a two-way truss rod and an ebony fingerboard with dot inlays across 20 frets, at a scale length of 23-1/4" and a nut width of 1-11/16". The Graphtech Nubone nut and ebony bridge are paired with gold hardware, including 18:1 ratio tuners fitted with ebonite buttons. The parquet rosette — a three-ring design of alternating maple and mahogany — is a notable decorative detail. Bracing is quarter-sawn scalloped Sitka Spruce. The instrument shipped strung with a D'Addario EXP-16 light phosphor bronze set and included a gig bag.
Owners seeking setup work, nut replacement, or guidance on compatible Ebony bridge saddles and Graphtech Nubone nut blanks for the 1-11/16" slot should consult a qualified luthier or experienced guitar technician familiar with small-body acoustics.
STRAIGHT TALK
What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
