Washburn positioned the WCG25SCE-O-U within its Comfort Series as a Grand Auditorium acoustic-electric guitar with a Venetian cutaway. The Comfort Series was built around ergonomic refinements — specifically a belly carve and top carve intended to reduce body contact pressure during both seated and standing play. A beveled lower bout was a defining feature of the series, and on this model that bevel was integrated into mahogany binding that also ran the body and headstock perimeter.
The top is a book-matched solid Sitka spruce, braced with Washburn's Cathedral Peaked Scalloped-X pattern. Back and sides are Pau Ferro, with a maple/mahogany/maple decorative strip splitting the book-matched back. The neck is satin mahogany fitted with a two-way truss rod, and the fretboard is Ovangkol with no position inlays across its 20 frets. Nut material is bone at 1-3/4" width, and scale length runs 25-5/16". The Ovangkol bridge is mahogany-bound. The headstock is Pau Ferro-capped and carries a pearl-inlaid Washburn logo; tuners are 18:1 ratio black die-cast units with black buttons. The rosette is the Washburn Parquet 3-Ring design, constructed from alternating maple and mahogany. Electronics are handled by a Fishman Presys+ 501T preamp with an integrated tuner, offering volume, three-band EQ, notch, brilliance, and phase controls. The guitar shipped strung with D'Addario EXP-16 light phosphor bronze strings.
Owners requiring setup work, fret maintenance, or sourcing of compatible bone nut blanks, Ovangkol bridge saddles, or Fishman Presys+ replacement components should consult a qualified guitar technician or luthier familiar with acoustic-electric instruments.
STRAIGHT TALK
What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
