Washburn built the WCGM15SK-D-U as part of its Comfort Series, positioning it as a 7/8-scale Mini Grand Auditorium acoustic designed around ergonomic principles. The body incorporates a Binding Relief — a rounded-over section beneath the player's forearm area — and a Comfort Carve-Away at the upper shoulder, both intended to ease long playing sessions and improve access to the upper register. The cutaway body carries a satin finish and is strung with a D'Addario EXP-16 light phosphor bronze set.
The solid Sitka spruce top is braced with quarter-sawn scalloped Sitka spruce bracing and bound in walnut. Mahogany back, sides, and neck complement an ebony fretboard and ebony bridge, both featuring dot inlays and 20 frets across a 23-1/4" scale. The nut is a GraphTech Nubone unit at 1-11/16" width. Gold hardware runs throughout, including 18:1 ratio tuners with ebonite buttons. The three-ring Washburn parquet rosette is constructed from alternating maple and mahogany. The headstock carries a maple Washburn logo inlay.
Owners sourcing replacement parts — including the GraphTech Nubone nut, ebonite tuner buttons, or D'Addario EXP-16 strings — should verify fit against the 23-1/4" scale and 1-11/16" nut width before ordering. For setup, intonation, or fretwork on this instrument, consult a qualified guitar technician familiar with short-scale acoustics.
STRAIGHT TALK
What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
