Washburn built the WCGM15SK-D-U as part of its Comfort Series, positioning it as a 7/8-scale Mini Grand Auditorium acoustic designed around ergonomic principles. The body incorporates a Binding Relief — a rounded-over section beneath the player's forearm area — and a Comfort Carve-Away at the upper shoulder, both intended to ease long playing sessions and improve access to the upper register. The solid Sitka spruce top is braced with quarter-sawn scalloped Sitka spruce bracing and bound in walnut.
