Washburn built the WCG66SCE-O-U as part of its Comfort Series, positioning it as a player-focused grand auditorium acoustic-electric with a Venetian cutaway. A defining feature of the Comfort Series was the deluxe re-curve style ergonomic armrest bevel at the lower bout, integrated into the mahogany top binding, designed to reduce the edge contact that can cause discomfort during extended playing sessions.
The body pairs a solid Western Red Cedar top with book-matched Spalted Maple back and sides, the back divided by a maple/mahogany/maple strip. Bracing follows a Cathedral Peaked Scalloped-X pattern. Binding on both the body and headstock is mahogany and maple. The neck is satin-finished mahogany with a two-way truss rod, carrying an Ovangkol fretboard with no inlays, a 1-3/4" bone nut, a 25-5/16" scale, and 20 frets. The mahogany-bound Ovangkol bridge and a Washburn Parquet three-ring rosette of alternating maple and mahogany complete the understated aesthetic. The headstock carries a mother-of-pearl Washburn logo and 18:1 ratio tuners with black buttons. Electronics are handled by a Fishman Presys+ 501T preamp with integrated tuner, offering volume, bass, middle, treble, notch, mic blend, and phase controls. Hardware throughout is black. The guitar shipped strung with D'Addario EXP-16 light phosphor bronze strings.
Owners sourcing replacement parts — bridge saddle, nut blanks, tuner buttons, or Fishman Presys+ components — should bring the instrument to a qualified guitar technician who can verify fit against the original specifications before installation.
STRAIGHT TALK
What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
