Schecter built the Keith Merrow KM-7 Mk-III Hybrid LH as a left-handed, seven-string signature instrument positioned within its artist collaboration line. The Mk-III Hybrid designation placed it as a refined iteration of the KM-7 platform, constructed in South Korea with a neck-thru-body configuration featuring Ultra Access at the heel joint.
The guitar was built around a mahogany body with a radius top and black single-ply binding. Its three-piece maple neck, reinforced with carbon fiber rods, ran a 26.5-inch scale to a maple fretboard fitted with 24 X-jumbo stainless steel frets over a 12-to-16-inch compound radius. The 48mm Ernie Ball Compensated Nut and Ultra Thin 'C' profile — measuring .748 inches at the first fret and .787 inches at the twelfth — defined the playing geometry. A two-way adjustable truss rod was accessible via a heel-mounted spoke wheel. Offset and reverse aluminum circle inlays with black dot accents ran the length of the board, with Luminlay glow-in-the-dark side dots for low-light orientation. A Hipshot Hardtail bridge with string-through-body anchoring and Schecter locking tuners handled the hardware duties, all finished in black. Electronics consisted of two Fishman Fluence Keith Merrow humbuckers routed through a single volume control and three-way switch, powered by a 9-volt clip-in battery compartment. The instrument shipped without a case.
