Schecter built the Keith Merrow KM-7 Mk-III Hybrid as a signature seven-string instrument developed in collaboration with Keith Merrow, positioned within Schecter's artist signature line. The Mk-III Hybrid designation places it as a third-generation iteration of the KM-7 platform. The guitar was manufactured in South Korea and constructed with a neck-thru-body method featuring Ultra Access, pairing a mahogany body with a three-piece maple neck reinforced by carbon fiber rods.
The neck carries a 26.5-inch (673mm) scale length and an Ultra Thin 'C' profile measuring .748 inches at the first fret and .787 inches at the twelfth, flattening into a 12-to-16-inch compound fretboard radius across a maple board. Twenty-four X-Jumbo stainless steel frets are fitted, with offset and reverse aluminum circle inlays complemented by Luminlay glow-in-the-dark side dots. The 1.889-inch (48mm) Ernie Ball Compensated Nut sits at the headstock end, with Schecter locking tuners providing string retention. At the bridge, a Hipshot Hardtail with string-thru-body anchoring handles intonation across the Snowblind finish's black hardware set. Electronics consist of two Fishman Fluence Keith Merrow Humbucker pickups routed through a volume control and three-way switch, powered by a 9-volt clip-in battery compartment. Black single-ply binding finishes the body edges, and a radius top contour is present.
Owners sourcing replacement parts — including the Hipshot Hardtail bridge components, Fishman Fluence pickup modules, or the Ernie Ball Compensated Nut — should consult a qualified guitar technician to confirm compatibility with the neck-thru construction and string-thru routing before installation.
STRAIGHT TALK
What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
