Schecter built the Keith Merrow KM-6 Mk-III Hybrid as a signature instrument developed in collaboration with the progressive metal guitarist Keith Merrow, positioning it within the company's artist signature tier. The Mk-III Hybrid designation indicated its place as a third-generation iteration of the KM-6 platform. The guitar was produced in South Korea and configured for right-handed players.
Construction follows a neck-thru-body method with Ultra Access, using a three-piece maple neck reinforced with carbon fiber rods and a mahogany body with a radius top contour and black single-ply binding. The maple fretboard runs a 12"–16" compound radius and carries 24 X-jumbo stainless steel frets, with offset and reverse aluminum circle inlays complemented by Luminlay glow-in-the-dark side dot markers. The nut is an Ernie Ball Compensated unit at 1.653" (42mm) width, and the neck profile is the Ultra Thin 'C' shape measuring .748" (19mm) at the first fret and .787" (20mm) at the twelfth. A two-way adjustable truss rod is accessed at the heel via a spoke wheel. Hardware is finished in black throughout and includes Schecter locking tuners and a Hipshot hardtail bridge with string-thru-body stringing. Both pickup positions carry Fishman Fluence Keith Merrow Humbucker pickups, active designs drawing from an onboard 9-volt clip-in battery compartment, controlled by a single volume knob and a three-way switch. The guitar was strung from the factory with Ernie Ball Regular Slinky (.010–.046) strings.
Owners seeking setup assistance, fret work, or help sourcing compatible replacement components such as Hipshot hardtail saddles or Fishman Fluence battery clips should consult a qualified guitar technician or luthier familiar with active pickup systems.
STRAIGHT TALK
What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
