Schecter built the Keith Merrow KM-6 MK-III Standard as a production-level entry in the signature series developed in collaboration with the progressive metal guitarist Keith Merrow. The MK-III Standard sat below the Artist tier in the KM-6 line and was manufactured in Indonesia. It was offered in Toxic Smoke Green with black hardware.
The guitar was constructed with a bolt-on neck joint, a swamp ash body with a burl top finished with black 1-ply binding and a radius top contour. The five-piece roasted maple and maple neck incorporated carbon fiber reinforcement rods and carried an ebony fretboard with aluminum offset/reverse circle inlays and glow-in-the-dark side dot markers. The neck profile was Schecter's Ultra Thin 'C' shape, measuring .763" at the first fret and .822" at the twelfth. The 25.5" scale fretboard ran a 12"-16" compound radius and carried 24 X-Jumbo frets. An Ernie Ball Compensated Nut sat at 42mm width, and a 2-way adjustable truss rod was accessible via a heel-mounted spoke wheel. Schecter Diamond KM humbuckers occupied both the bridge and neck positions, wired to a volume control, 3-way pickup selector, and a 2-way coil split toggle. The Schecter Custom Hardtail bridge used string-through-body stringing, and Schecter tuners were fitted throughout. Knobs were metal knurled units secured with set screws. The guitar shipped strung with Ernie Ball Regular Slinky .010–.046 strings.
