Schecter built the Keith Merrow KM-7 MK-III Standard as a production-line expression of the signature seven-string platform developed with the progressive metal guitarist. The MK-III Standard sat as the more accessible tier of the MK-III generation, manufactured in Indonesia, and carried the extended 26.5" baritone scale and bolt-on construction that defined the KM series.
The three-piece maple neck incorporates carbon fiber reinforcement rods and is finished with an Ebony fretboard bearing 24 X-Jumbo frets across a 12"-16" compound radius. Neck dimensions were specified at .763" at the first fret and .822" at the twelfth in the Ultra Thin 'C' profile. The 1.889" (48mm) nut is an Ernie Ball Compensated Nut. The Swamp Ash body features a radius top contour and black single-ply binding, finished here in Stealth Grey with all-black hardware. String anchoring is handled by a Schecter Custom Hardtail bridge with string-through-body routing. Both pickup positions carry Schecter Diamond KM Humbuckers, wired to a volume control, 3-way pickup switch, and a 2-way coil-split toggle. Tuning machines are Schecter-branded units. Red 'Predator' inlays mark the fretboard positions, with glow-in-the-dark side dot markers. The factory string set is Ernie Ball 7-string gauged .009/.011/.016/.026/.036/.046/.062.
