Schecter positioned the Keith Merrow KM-6 MK-III Standard as a production-line extension of the signature series developed with guitarist Keith Merrow, built in Indonesia with a bolt-on construction and a swamp ash body topped with quilted maple. The MK-III Standard sat as the more accessible tier of the MK-III generation within the KM-6 line, retaining the core playability specifications of the signature while using Schecter's own Diamond KM humbuckers at both bridge and neck positions.
The roasted maple and maple five-piece neck incorporates carbon fiber reinforcement rods and carries an ebony fretboard with a 12"-16" compound radius, 24 X-Jumbo frets, and aluminum offset/reverse circle inlays with glow-in-the-dark side dot markers. The Ultra Thin 'C' neck profile measures .763" at the first fret and .822" at the twelfth, over a 25.5" scale. Stringing is string-through-body via a Schecter Custom Hardtail bridge, and the Ernie Ball Compensated Nut sits at 1.653" (42mm) width. A two-way coil split toggle works alongside the single volume control and three-way pickup selector. Hardware throughout is finished in black, and a radius top contour is present on the body. Black one-ply binding edges the instrument, and tuner duties are handled by Schecter-branded units.
Owners sourcing replacement parts — including the Ernie Ball Compensated Nut, X-Jumbo fretwire to the correct profile, or string-through saddle components compatible with the Schecter Custom Hardtail — should consult a qualified guitar technician or luthier, particularly when addressing the compound-radius fretboard or the heel-access spoke wheel truss rod adjustment.
STRAIGHT TALK
What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
