Schecter built the Keith Merrow KM-7 MK-III Standard as a production-level entry in the KM signature series, positioned to bring Merrow's extended-range specification to a broader audience. The MK-III Standard carried a bolt-on construction on a Swamp Ash body with a Quilted Maple top finished in Trans Black Burst, and was manufactured in Indonesia.
The neck is a five-piece Roasted Maple and Maple assembly with Carbon Fiber Reinforcement Rods, shaped to an Ultra Thin 'C' profile measuring .763" at the first fret and .822" at the twelfth. The 26.5" baritone scale runs across an Ebony fretboard with a 12"-16" compound radius, 24 X-Jumbo frets, Aluminum Offset/Reverse Circle inlays, and Glow In The Dark side dots. An Ernie Ball Compensated Nut sits at 1.889" (48mm) width. Truss rod adjustment is handled via a two-way adjustable rod with heel-access spoke wheel. Hardware is finished in black throughout; the bridge is a Schecter Custom Hardtail with string-through-body stringing, and both pickup positions carry Schecter Diamond KM Humbuckers. The control layout provides a master volume, 3-way pickup selector, and a 2-way coil-split toggle switch. Schecter tuners and metal knurled knobs with set screws complete the hardware. The instrument ships with Ernie Ball 7-string gauges .009/.011/.016/.026/.036/.046/.062; the case is sold separately.
