Schecter built the Solo Custom Exotic as a USA-made flagship single-cut instrument, positioned at the top of its custom shop offering. The model combined traditional set-neck construction with premium material choices throughout, targeting players seeking a high-specification instrument built domestically.
The body is mahogany with a beveled top contour surfaced in figured maple beneath a koa overlay — an uncommon laminate arrangement that defined the "Exotic" designation. Neck construction is three-piece mahogany joined to the body via a deep tenon set neck joint, topped with an ebony fretboard bound in vintage cream and inlaid with pearloid split crown markers featuring koa centers. The 24.75" scale runs across 22 jumbo frets on a 14" radius board, with a GraphTech Tusq nut at 1.688" width and a Custom C profile measuring .820" at the first fret tapering to .920" at the twelfth. Hipshot locking open-gear tuners anchor the headstock end; a Hipshot Lightweight Locking Tune-O-Matic with stop tailpiece handles intonation and anchoring at the body. Electronics are two Pasadena-series humbuckers — both wound with figured maple bobbins — wired to independent volume and tone controls with pull-to-tap coil-splitting on each tone pot, plus a three-way toggle switch. All hardware is finished in gold.
Owners requiring setup adjustments, fret work, or hardware sourcing for Hipshot or GraphTech components should consult a qualified guitar technician familiar with set-neck instruments.
STRAIGHT TALK
What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
