Schecter built the Synyster Custom-S as a signature instrument for Synyster Gates of Avenged Sevenfold, positioned toward the upper tier of Schecter's artist signature line. The South Korea–manufactured guitar featured a mahogany body with a flat top and a three-piece mahogany neck reinforced with carbon fiber rods, joined via a set-neck construction with ultra access. The finish shown in this record is Satin Gold Burst, with gold hardware throughout.
The neck carried an Ultra Thin 'C' profile measuring .748" at the first fret and .787" at the twelfth, surfaced with an ebony fretboard at a 16" radius and fitted with 24 X-Jumbo frets. Gold Pearloid 'SYN' and 'Deathbat' inlays ran the length of the board, with glow-in-the-dark side dot markers. A Floyd Rose 1500 Series nut and bridge handled tuning stability, with Grover tuners at the headstock. The nut width measured 1.625" (41.3mm) and scale length ran 25.5" (648mm). Electronics centred on a Schecter USA Synyster Gates Signature Humbucker at the bridge and a Sustainiac pickup at the neck, controlled by a volume, tone, three-way pickup switch, a two-way Sustainiac on/off switch, and a three-way Sustainiac mode switch (Fundamental, Mix, Harmonic). The Sustainiac driver drew power from a 9-volt clip-in battery. Black 1-ply binding finished the body edges, and metal knurled knobs with set screws managed the controls. Strings were factory-fitted with Ernie Ball Regular Slinky .010–.046.
Owners requiring setup assistance, Floyd Rose servicing, or Sustainiac system maintenance should consult a qualified guitar technician familiar with double-locking tremolo systems.
STRAIGHT TALK
What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
