Schecter built the Keith Merrow KM-7 MK-III Pro USA Signature as a USA-manufactured, artist-driven seven-string instrument positioned at the top of the Schecter signature line. It represented the third major iteration of Merrow's KM-7 platform, constructed to the specifications he developed for extended-range performance.
The body combined a Swamp Ash core with a Flame Maple top finished in a full-radius contour, paired with a three-piece Wenge neck incorporating Purple Heart and Maple laminates — a bolt-on joint secured by five bolts with a recessed plate and extended tenon. The 26.5" scale Macassar Ebony fretboard ran 24 Jescar Stainless Steel frets over a 12"-to-16" compound radius, with a Thin Fast C profile measuring .765" at the first fret and .825" at the twelfth. A Graphite Ernie Ball compensated nut at 1.89" width anchored the string path, with a two-way truss rod supported by carbon fiber reinforcement rods and a spoke-wheel adjustment. Hardware throughout was finished in black, centred on a Hipshot Low Profile contoured seven-string fixed bridge and Hipshot open-gear locking tuners with knurled barrel adjustment. Both pickup positions carried Keith Merrow Custom Fishman Fluence humbuckers, controlled by a master volume, a three-way pickup selector, and a three-way pickup mode selector. The fretboard used custom offset silver metal rings as inlays, with glow-in-the-dark side dots.
Owners requiring setup work, fret maintenance, or parts sourcing for the Hipshot or Fishman Fluence components should consult a qualified guitar technician familiar with extended-range instruments.
STRAIGHT TALK
What Stands Out
Keep In Mind
From the people who own them
Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.
Owner photos
Put yours on the record.
The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.
What do you know about this one?
Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
