Description

The Schecter Apocalypse-VIII is an eight-string passive pickup set built around a tri-field magnet arrangement: a central Alnico V magnet with direct coupling, flanked by two Ceramic 8 magnets on each side. That configuration lets the pickup handle heavy mid-range output without the outer strings losing definition under gain. Bridge output is 17k ohms; neck is 12k ohms. Both units run a 4-conductor harness with split-coil wiring, so series, parallel and coil-split configurations are all available depending on your control layout. Pole pieces are 16 high carbon steel socket set screws, individually adjustable. The baseplate is black industrial coated nickel/silver.

Two things decide whether this set fits your guitar: pole spacing and string count. Both the bridge and neck pickup in this set measure 71mm Universal Spacing. Confirm your existing pickup routes match that spacing — a mismatch pushes the outer strings off the pole pieces, which kills balance across the spread. More critically, this is an eight-string pickup set. It is not a drop-in for a six- or seven-string body. Also check your mounting situation before ordering: direct-mount bodies and ring-mount bodies need different hardware, and the route dimensions on an eight-string guitar vary by manufacturer.

The 16 adjustable pole pieces matter on an eight-string because string-to-string output balance is harder to dial in with a wider spread. Being able to raise or lower each pole individually gives you a way to compensate for uneven string response rather than living with it.

If you are not certain this is the correct pickup for your instrument, send us the make, model and year and we will confirm it fits before you order.
