The Schecter 6274 Apocalypse-VIII is a neck pickup built for eight-string guitars. It uses a tri-field magnet arrangement: Alnico V direct-coupled construction combined with eight flanking Ceramic 8 magnets. The result is a neck position that holds together under heavy gain without going soft in the midrange. Output measures 12k ohms. Wiring is a 4-conductor harness with a split-coil design, so coil-splitting is wired in from the factory. The baseplate is black industrial-coated nickel/silver. Pole pieces are 16 high carbon steel socket-set screws, individually adjustable.

Two things decide whether this pickup fits your guitar: pole spacing and string count. This is an eight-string neck pickup with 71mm universal spacing. A six- or seven-string pickup will not cover the outer strings of an eight-string instrument, and this pickup will not sit correctly in a six- or seven-string route. Within eight-string guitars, spacing still varies between neck and bridge positions — a bridge-spaced pickup in a neck route puts the outer pole pieces off the strings. Confirm your route dimensions before ordering. Also check your mounting style: direct-mount bodies and ring-mount bodies require different hardware, and the wrong one means drilling or shimming.

The black industrial-coated baseplate and adjustable pole pieces mean you can dial in string balance after installation rather than relying on factory height alone. If a previous pickup left the outer strings weak, work the pole screws before assuming the pickup is wrong for the guitar.
