The Schecter 6279 Brimstone 7 is a passive neck pickup built for seven-string guitars. It runs a 4-conductor harness with a split-coil design, so you can wire it for full humbucker output or push it into split-coil mode from a push-pull or mini-toggle. Output is 12.4k ohms at full power. The central magnet is a proprietary high-mass ceramic-barium impregnated unit. Pole pieces are 14 high carbon steel socket set screws, fully adjustable for individual string balance. The baseplate is black industrial coated nickel/silver.
Two things decide whether this pickup fits your guitar: string count and pole spacing. This is a seven-string pickup — it will not cover all seven strings in a six-string route, and it will not reach all eight in an eight-string route. Spacing is 61mm universal spacing. That measurement is taken from the outside edge of the first pole piece to the outside edge of the last. Confirm that figure matches your existing pickup or route before ordering. Also check your mounting arrangement: direct-mount bodies and ring-mount bodies use different hardware, and not all rings clear a full-size baseplate.
The split-coil design means the wiring harness matters. Four conductors give you access to both coils independently. If your current control cavity is wired for a two-conductor pickup, you will need to reterminate or cap the extra leads — straightforward work, but worth knowing before the part arrives.
If you are not certain this is the right pickup for your guitar, send us the make, model, and year and we will check the fit.
