Schecter built the J-5 LH (item 2915) as a five-string, left-handed J-style bass positioned within their production line alongside other bolt-on, long-scale instruments. Constructed in Indonesia with an alder body and a bolt-on maple neck, it was paired with a maple fretboard and finished in Sea Foam Green with black hardware throughout.
The J-5 LH carried a 35-inch (889 mm) scale length, a 16-inch (406 mm) fretboard radius, and 21 narrow X-Jumbo frets. The Thin 'C' neck profile measures .787 inches (20 mm) at the first fret and .866 inches (22 mm) at the twelfth, with a 1.771-inch (45 mm) nut width occupied by a Graph Tech XL Ivory Tusq nut. A two-way adjustable truss rod with heel-access spoke wheel provides relief adjustment. Both pickup positions were loaded with Schecter USA MonsterTone-J™ single-coil pickups, with the control layout running Volume/Volume/Tone; the tone knob incorporates a push-pull coil-tap function. The Schecter Custom Bass bridge accepts either string-through-body or top-load stringing. Black knurled metal knobs with set screws, Schecter tuners, and black offset/reverse dot inlays complete the specification. The instrument shipped without a case; the SGR-Universal Bass case was sold separately.
