Schecter built the Sun Valley Super Shredder PT FR as a high-output, tremolo-equipped instrument positioned within their Sun Valley Super Shredder series. The bolt-on construction and 25.5" scale placed it firmly in the extended-reach, fast-playing segment of the Schecter catalogue, with the PT designation indicating its body template and the FR denoting the Floyd Rose-equipped configuration.
The maple neck carries a Thin 'C' profile measuring .787" (20mm) at the first fret and .866" (22mm) at the twelfth, mated to a maple fretboard with a 14" (355mm) radius, offset/reverse dot inlays, and 22 X-Jumbo frets. A Floyd Rose Special 'Hot Rod' Locking Tremolo — a Schecter exclusive variant — is anchored at the bridge, with a Floyd Rose Special locking nut at the 41.3mm (1.625") nut width. Both pickup positions carry EMG Retro Active Hot 70 humbuckers wired to a volume/volume/3-way switch layout with metal knurled set-screw knobs; the active electronics are powered via a 9-volt clip-in battery compartment. The mahogany body features a flat top. Hardware throughout is finished in black. A 2-way adjustable truss rod with heel-access spoke wheel is fitted in the neck. The instrument was strung from the factory with Ernie Ball Hybrid Slinky .009–.046 strings.
