Schecter positioned the J-4 LH (item 2914) as a left-handed, four-string electric bass within its production line, built on a bolt-on construction with an alder body and a maple neck and fretboard. The Sea Foam Green finish was the colour offered on this configuration.
The neck carried a Thin 'C' profile measuring .787" (20mm) at the first fret and .866" (22mm) at the twelfth, with a 16" (406mm) fretboard radius and 21 narrow extra-jumbo frets. A Graph Tech XL Ivory Tusq nut at 1.496" (38mm) and a two-way adjustable truss rod with heel-access spoke wheel handled setup. Both pickup positions were loaded with Schecter USA MonsterTone-J™ single-coil-style pickups, with the controls arranged as Volume/Volume/Tone on a push-pull coil-tap pot. The Schecter Custom Bass bridge accepted both string-through-body and top-load stringing. All hardware was finished in black, including the metal knurled knobs with set screws and the Schecter tuners. The instrument shipped with Ernie Ball 4-String Super Long strings (.045–.105). The 34" (863mm) scale and flat-top body contour completed the specification.
