Description

Schecter positioned the Riot-5 Session as a five-string bass built around an active electronics platform and a string-through-body bridge system. Constructed in South Korea with a bolt-on neck joint, it carried the Riot Session designation within Schecter's bass catalogue and was finished in Aged Natural Satin.

The body is swamp ash with a flat top and bevel edge contour. The maple neck carries a maple fretboard with ebony side-block inlays, a C' profile measuring .826" at the first fret and .905" at the twelfth, and a 35" (889mm) scale length. The fretboard runs 24 narrow extra-jumbo frets at a 12" (305mm) radius, and the nut is a Graph Tech XL Black Tusq at 1.771" (45mm) width. A two-way adjustable truss rod accepts a 5/32" (4mm) Allen key. Electronics consist of an EMG 40DC bridge pickup and an EMG 40J neck pickup routed through a master volume, blend control, and three-band EMG active EQ — the system runs on 18 volts via a screw-plate battery compartment. The Schecter Custom Bass bridge supports both string-through-body and top-load stringing. All hardware is finished in black, and tuners are Schecter units. Factory strings were Ernie Ball 5-String Super Long #2850 (.045–.130).

Owners sourcing replacement parts — particularly the Graph Tech XL Black Tusq nut, EMG 40-series pickups, or string-through saddle components — should verify measurements against their specific instrument before ordering, and consult a qualified bass technician for setup or wiring work.

The owner archive

From the people who own them

Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.

Put yours on the record.

The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.

What do you know about this one?

Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
