Schecter built the Stiletto Session-5 FL as a fretless five-string electric bass within its Stiletto Session series, positioning it for players who required the continuous pitch control of a fretless neck alongside active electronics and extended-range string spacing. The instrument was manufactured in South Korea with a bolt-on construction and a swamp ash body finished in Aged Natural Satin.
The maple neck carried a fretless maple fretboard with a 12" (305mm) radius and ebony side block markers, giving players a visual reference along the edge of the neck. Nut duties fell to a Graph Tech XL Black Tusq unit at 1.771" (45mm) width, and the neck profile was a C-shape measuring .826" (21mm) at the first position and .905" (23mm) at the twelfth. The 35" (889mm) scale fed through a Schecter Custom Bass String Thru bridge that also accepted top loading, with all hardware finished in black. Electronics consisted of an EMG 40DC at the bridge and an EMG 40J at the neck, driven by an 18-volt battery compartment and controlled via master volume, blend, and a 3-band EMG active EQ. Knobs were metal knurled with set screws, and Schecter tuners completed the headstock. The bass shipped strung with Ernie Ball 5-String Flatwound #2810 strings, a practical default for fretless playing.
