Schecter built the Robert Smith UltraCure as a signature instrument positioned within its artist series, configured to the specifications developed in collaboration with the guitarist. The model carried item number 285 and was produced in South Korea.
The guitar was constructed with a chambered mahogany body using a flat top with raised centre contour, joined to a three-piece maple neck via a set-neck joint with Ultra Access. The rosewood fretboard ran 25.5" (648mm) scale and carried 24 extra-jumbo frets on a 14" (355mm) radius, with mother of pearl block inlays and glow-in-the-dark side dot markers. The neck profile was a Thin 'C' shape, measuring .787" (20mm) at the first fret and .866" (22mm) at the twelfth. A Graph Tech XL Black Tusq nut sat at 1.653" (42mm) width. Hardware was finished in chrome throughout and included a Bigsby Flat Top B50 vibrato paired with a roller TonePros TOM (TPFR-T3BT) bridge, Schecter locking tuners, and metal knurled knobs with set screws. Electronics comprised a Seymour Duncan '59 SH-1N at the neck and a Seymour Duncan '59 SH-1B at the bridge, controlled by two push-pull volume pots, a master volume, and a 3-way switch. The instrument shipped strung with Ernie Ball Regular Slinky .010–.046 (.010–.046). A dedicated UltraCure G&G hardcase (981) was available separately.
