Description

Schecter built the Robert Smith UltraCure (Item 280) as a signature model within its electric guitar line, finished in Gloss Black. The instrument was constructed with a set-neck joint featuring Ultra Access and a chambered mahogany body with a flat top and raised centre contour. The three-piece maple neck carries a rosewood fretboard with a 14-inch radius, mother of pearl block inlays, and glow-in-the-dark side dot markers.

The 25.5-inch scale neck presents 24 X-Jumbo frets, a Thin 'C' profile measuring .787 inches at the first fret and .866 inches at the twelfth, and a Graph Tech XL Black Tusq nut at 42mm width. Tuning is handled by Schecter locking tuners, and the vibrato system pairs a Bigsby Flat Top B50 with a roller TonePros TOM TPFR bridge. Both pickup positions carry Seymour Duncan '59 pickups — the SH-1B at the bridge and the SH-1N at the neck — routed through a pair of push-pull volume controls, a master volume, and a 3-way switch. All hardware is finished in chrome. The factory string set was Ernie Ball Regular Slinky .010–.046.

Owners sourcing replacement parts should note that the Bigsby B50 and TonePros TPFR bridge accept standard Bigsby-compatible and tune-o-matic compatible components respectively; the 42mm nut width and 14-inch fretboard radius should be confirmed with a qualified luthier or guitar technician before fitting any replacement nut or fretboard work.

From the people who own them

Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.

Put yours on the record.

The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.

What do you know about this one?

Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
