Schecter built the Robert Smith UltraCure-XII as a signature twelve-string electric guitar, positioned within the UltraCure line as an artist collaboration model. The instrument carried item number 281 and was finished in Vintage White.
Construction centred on a chambered mahogany body with a flat top and raised centre contour, joined to a three-piece maple neck via a set-neck joint with Ultra Access. The 25.5-inch scale rosewood fingerboard ran to 24 X-Jumbo frets at a 14-inch radius, with a nut width of 1.771 inches (45mm) accommodating the twelve-string format. A Graph Tech XL Black Tusq nut fed the strings to Schecter locking tuners. The Diamond Adjustable-12 bridge was fitted as standard. Pickup duties fell to a matched pair of Seymour Duncan '59s — the SH-1B at the bridge and SH-1N at the neck — wired to a control layout of two push-pull volume controls, a master volume, and a 3-way switch, with metal knurled knobs throughout. Hardware was finished in chrome. Mother of pearl block inlays marked the fretboard positions, with glow-in-the-dark side dot markers. The instrument shipped strung with Ernie Ball 12-String Electric #2230 (.010–.046) strings.
