Schecter built the Stiletto Session-4 FL as a fretless four-string bass within the Stiletto Session line, a series that positioned active electronics and professional-grade hardware at an accessible point in the company's bass catalogue. The instrument was constructed with a bolt-on maple neck joined to a swamp ash body, finished in Aged Natural Satin.
The fretless maple fretboard carried a 12" radius and a 1.496" (38mm) nut width sourced from Graph Tech's XL Black Tusq range. The 34" (863mm) scale neck was profiled in a C shape, measuring .826" at the first fret and .905" at the twelfth, with a two-way adjustable truss rod accessed via a 5/32" Allen nut. Electronics consisted of an EMG 35DC at the bridge and an EMG 35J at the neck, fed through an 18-volt active circuit controlled by a master volume, a blend pot, and a three-band EMG active EQ — all on black metal knurled knobs with set screws. The Schecter Custom Bass bridge offered both string-through-body and top-load stringing options. Black hardware finished the package throughout. Schecter specified Ernie Ball four-string flatwound strings (#2808) as the factory fit, a typical choice for fretless instruments to protect the unlined board surface.
