Schecter built the Johnny Christ-5 as a signature bass for Avenged Sevenfold's Johnny Christ, positioning it in the brand's Artist Series as a five-string instrument constructed on a bolt-on neck joint with an ash body and a three-piece maple neck. The model carried the extended 35-inch scale length and was finished in Satin Black.
The ebony fretboard runs 21 narrow extra-jumbo frets at a 12-inch radius, with a 1.771-inch nut width at the Graph Tech XL Black Tusq nut — dimensions that reflect the demands of the low-B string on a 35-inch scale bass. Inlays are silver bone crosses with a Deathbat at the 12th fret.
