Schecter built the Sixx as a signature bass within its electric bass lineup, finished in Satin Black and constructed with a neck-thru design. The instrument was oriented toward players seeking an active-electronics platform with extended range control over tone.
The neck is a multi-ply Maple and Walnut assembly with a C-profile, measuring .748" at the first fret and .787" at the twelfth, running through a Rosewood fretboard with 24 X-Jumbo frets at a 12" radius. The 34" scale neck meets a Mahogany body, with string duties handled by Ernie Ball 4-String Super Long #2849 gauged .045–.105. Hardware throughout is Black Chrome, including Metal Knurled knobs with set screws and Grover tuners. The nut is a Graph Tech XL Black Tusq unit at 1.653" width. A 2-Way Adjustable truss rod is accessed via a 5/32" Allen nut. The Schecter Custom Bass bridge supports both string-thru and top-load stringing. Pickups are an EMG PX at the neck and an EMG LJX at the bridge, wired to a Volume/Volume/EMG VLPF Active Tone Control/Kill Switch control layout powered by a 9-volt clip-in battery.
