Schecter positioned the Ultra-5 (item 2128) as a five-string bass built around a neck-through construction with Ultra Access — a long-tenon joint designed to preserve upper-fret reach. The instrument was finished in Satin Black and manufactured in South Korea.
The neck was a five-piece Mahogany/Maple laminate reinforced with Carbon Fiber Reinforcement Rods, shaped to a Thin 'C' profile measuring .787" at the first fret and .866" at the twelfth. It carried a 35" (889mm) scale, a 16" (406mm) radius Ebony fretboard with 20 X-Jumbo frets and Pearloid Offset/Reverse Dot inlays, and a Graph Tech XL Black Tusq nut at 1.771" (45mm) width. The Mahogany body featured a Flat Top with Raised Center and Black 1-ply binding. Both pickup positions were loaded with EMG TBHZ humbuckers, wired to a Volume/Volume/Tone control layout with Grip Tip Speed Knobs. The Schecter Custom Bass bridge accepted either string-through-body or top-load stringing. Hardware throughout was finished in Black, and Open Gear Lightweight tuners were fitted at the headstock. Schecter specified Ernie Ball 5-String Super Long #2850 (.045–.130) strings at the factory. A 2-Way Adjustable Truss Rod with a 5/32" (4mm) Allen nut is accessible for neck relief adjustments.
