Description

Schecter positioned the Ultra Bass as a high-specification, neck-through instrument in its bass line, built around an extended 34-inch scale and a multi-laminate neck construction designed for long-term stability. The guitar was manufactured in South Korea and was offered in a Right Handed configuration only.

The five-piece Mahogany/Maple neck runs through the body and incorporates Carbon Fiber Reinforcement Rods alongside a 2-Way Adjustable Truss Rod accessed via a 5/32" (4mm) Allen nut. The Mahogany body features a Flat Top with Raised Center contour and Black 1-ply binding. The Ebony fretboard carries 20 X-Jumbo frets at a 16" (406mm) radius with Pearloid Offset/Reverse Dot inlays, and the neck profile is a Thin 'C' measuring .787" (20mm) at the first fret and .866" (22mm) at the twelfth. The 1.496" (38mm) Graph Tech XL Black Tusq nut feeds Open Gear Lightweight tuners, all finished in black hardware throughout. Both pickup positions carry EMG TBHZ pickups, controlled by a Volume/Volume/Tone layout using Grip Tip Speed Knobs. The Schecter Custom Bass bridge accommodates both string-through-body and top-load stringing. The instrument shipped strung with Ernie Ball 4 String Super Long #2849 (.045–.105).

Owners sourcing replacement parts — including the EMG TBHZ pickups, Graph Tech XL Black Tusq nut, or compatible string-through bridge hardware — should bring their measurements and this record to a qualified bass guitar technician for fit verification.

The owner archive

From the people who own them

Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.

Put yours on the record.

The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.

What do you know about this one?

Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
