Schecter positioned the Stiletto Studio-8 as an extended-range electric bass within its Stiletto Studio series, built in South Korea. The eight-string configuration, paired with a neck-through construction with Ultra Access and a long 34-inch scale, reflected Schecter's focus on players seeking wider harmonic range and lower register reach than a conventional four- or five-string instrument could offer.
The neck ran a Maple/Walnut multi-ply through the mahogany body, topped with flamed maple and finished in See-Thru Black Satin. A thin 'C' profile measured .787" at the first fret and .866" at the twelfth, spread across a 40mm Graph Tech XL Black Tusq nut and a 16" radius rosewood fretboard with abalone offset dot inlays. Twenty-four X-Jumbo frets provided the playing surface. Electronics centred on a pair of EMG 35HZ pickups running through an 18-volt battery system, with control over master volume, blend, and a three-band EMG active EQ via metal knurled knobs. Hardware throughout was finished in black chrome, including the Diamond Custom bass bridge and Schecter tuners. The truss rod was a two-way adjustable unit accessed with a 5/32" Allen key.
