Schecter positioned the Stiletto Extreme-5 as a five-string active bass within its Stiletto series, built on a bolt-on construction with a mahogany body and a quilted maple top finished in See-Thru Black. The instrument was manufactured in Indonesia and was offered for right-handed players.
The neck is maple, shaped to Schecter's Thin 'C' profile and measuring .787" (20mm) at the first fret and .866" (22mm) at the twelfth, with a 35" (889mm) scale length suited to the extended low end of a five-string configuration. The rosewood fretboard carries 24 X-Jumbo frets at a 16" (406mm) radius, with pearloid and abalone vector inlays and a 1.771" (45mm) Graph Tech XL Black Tusq nut. Hardware throughout is black chrome, including Schecter tuners, a Diamond Bass bridge, and metal knurled knobs secured with set screws. Both the bridge and neck positions carry Schecter Diamond Bass pickups, fed into an active two-band EQ circuit with master volume and blend controls, powered by a 9-volt clip-in battery. Creme 1-ply binding runs the fretboard edge, and the body has a flat top contour. Factory strings were Ernie Ball 5 String Super Long #2850 (.045–.130).
