Description

Schecter positioned the Stiletto Studio-5 as a feature-laden, neck-through five-string bass within its Stiletto series, manufactured in South Korea. The instrument was built around a neck-through construction with Ultra Access, a Mahogany body, and a Flamed Maple top with a flat contour — a combination that placed it toward the upper tier of the Stiletto range.

The multi-ply Maple/Walnut neck carries a Thin 'C' profile, measuring .787" at the first fret and .866" at the twelfth, and runs through 24 X-Jumbo frets on a Rosewood fretboard with a 16" radius and Abalone Offset Dot inlays. The 35" scale and 1.771" nut width — fitted with a Graph Tech XL Black Tusq nut — are characteristic of extended-range five-string construction. Hardware is finished in Black Chrome throughout, anchored by a Diamond Custom Bass bridge and Schecter tuners. Electronics consist of a pair of EMG 40HZ passive humbuckers driven through an 18-volt active circuit with a 3-Band EMG Active EQ, controlled via Master Volume, Blend, and EQ knobs. The truss rod is a 2-way adjustable unit adjusted with a 5/32" Allen key. The instrument shipped strung with Ernie Ball 5 String Super Long #2850 (.045–.130) strings; the case (SGR-5SB) was sold separately.

Owners sourcing replacement parts — including the Graph Tech XL Black Tusq nut, EMG 40-series pickups, or Diamond Custom Bass bridge components — should cross-reference the dimensions listed here and consult a qualified bass technician or luthier for fitting and setup work.

From the people who own them

Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.

Put yours on the record.

The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.

What do you know about this one?

Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
