Description

Schecter built the Michael Anthony Bass (item 268) as a signature instrument within its bass line, positioned around the playing preferences of the artist for whom it was named. The model shipped in Carbon Grey (CBG) with black hardware and a flat-top body of alder, assembled via bolt-on construction. The existing record does not specify body shape or cutaway configuration.

The neck is a multi-ply maple and walnut construction with a Thin 'C' profile, measuring .787" (20mm) at the first fret and .866" (22mm) at the twelfth. A Graph Tech XL Black Tusq nut sits at 1.496" (38mm) width, feeding into a rosewood fretboard carrying 21 X-Jumbo frets at a 12" (305mm) radius and creme dot inlays. Tuning is handled by WSC KG400 machines. The two-way adjustable truss rod takes a 5/32" (4mm) Allen key. Pickup configuration pairs a Schecter USA MonsterTone-P™ (MA) at the neck with a Schecter USA MonsterTone-J™ (MA) at the bridge, controlled via a Volume/Tone/3-Way Switch arrangement with metal knurled knobs. The WSC THD4 Bass Bridge anchors the string load; the instrument shipped strung with Ernie Ball 4 String Super Long #2849 (.045–.105). Creme 1-ply binding edges the body. A case was not included and was sold separately (SGR-UNIVERSAL BASS).

Owners sourcing replacement parts — particularly the Graph Tech XL Black Tusq nut, WSC hardware, or MonsterTone pickups — or requiring truss-rod adjustment and setup work should consult a qualified guitar technician familiar with bolt-on bass construction.

From the people who own them

Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.

Put yours on the record.

The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.

What do you know about this one?

Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
