Description

Schecter built the Stiletto Custom-5 as a mid-tier five-string bass in its Stiletto series, manufactured in Indonesia. The model was positioned above the entry-level Stiletto Studio tier and offered an active electronics package and multi-ply neck construction aimed at players seeking extended-range capability with a factory active setup.

The bass features a mahogany body with a quilted maple top finished in a flat-top contour, paired with a six-bolt maple/walnut multi-ply neck. The rosewood fretboard runs to 24 X-jumbo frets over a 35-inch scale with a 16-inch radius, and the neck profile is a Thin 'C' measuring .787 inches at the first fret and .866 inches at the twelfth. The 1.771-inch nut width uses a Graph Tech XL Black Tusq nut. Hardware is finished in black throughout, with an S-Tek bridge, Schecter tuners, and metal knurled knobs with set screws. Electronics consist of a pair of EMG 40HZ pickups routed through a master volume, blend control, and a 2-band EMG active EQ, powered by a 9-volt clip-in battery compartment. Pearloid offset dot inlays mark the fretboard positions. The instrument shipped strung with Ernie Ball 5-String Super Long #2850 (.045–.130) strings. The SGR-5SB case was sold separately.

Owners requiring setup work, fretwork, or parts sourcing — including the S-Tek bridge, Graph Tech XL Black Tusq nut, or EMG 40HZ pickups — should consult a qualified bass technician or luthier familiar with extended-scale five-string instruments.

From the people who own them

Nothing in The Vault is for sale. These records exist so the instruments stay documented after the manufacturer moves on — and the most useful part of that record is what owners add to it.

Put yours on the record.

The catalog shot showed one finish, under one light, a long time ago. Yours has been played. Photos from owners are what the next person finds when they are trying to identify a part, match a finish, or work out whether the one they just bought is really what the seller said it was.

What do you know about this one?

Specs only go so far. What actually fits, what breaks first, what the factory got right and what everyone ends up changing — that lives with the people who own them, not in a datasheet. Post what you know and it stays on this page for whoever comes looking next.
