Schecter built the Stiletto Custom-4 as a mid-tier entry in its Stiletto bass lineup, positioning it above the Studio series with the addition of a quilted maple top over the mahogany body and active EQ circuitry. Produced in Indonesia, it was offered in a right-handed configuration in the Vampyre Red Satin finish.
The neck is a multi-ply maple and walnut construction bolted to the body via six bolts, carrying a rosewood fretboard with 24 X-Jumbo frets, pearloid offset dot inlays, and a 16" (406mm) radius. The Thin 'C' profile measures .787" (20mm) at the first fret and .866" (22mm) at the twelfth. The 34" (863mm) scale length terminates at a Graph Tech XL Black Tusq nut cut to 1.496" (38mm) width, and tuning is handled by Schecter-branded tuners. A two-way adjustable truss rod is accessed with a 5/32" (4mm) Allen key. Both positions are loaded with EMG 35HZ pickups routed through a master volume, a blend control, and a two-band EMG active EQ; the 9-volt battery seats in a clip-in compartment. Hardware throughout is finished in black, including the metal knurled set-screw knobs and the S-Tek bridge. Schecter specified Ernie Ball 4-String Super Long strings (.045–.105, #2849) as the factory fit.
